First GDP estimate
Gross domestic product grew by 6.4 per cent in I quarter 2008

Statistics Lithuania informs that based on available statistical data and used econometric models, estimated GDP in I quarter 2008 totalled LTL 23,801.6 million at current prices and, as compared to I quarter 2007, grew by 6.4 per cent (estimated using a chain-linking method in volumes of value added). 

In I quarter 2008, the increase in the gross value added (GVA) was conditioned by the change in the value added generated by enterprises engaging in manufacturing (due to increased manufacture of mineral products), construction, wholesale and retail trade, transport, storage and communication, real estate, renting and other business activities.

¨ First GDP estimate. 

In I quarter 2008, the per capita GDP at current prices made LTL 7071, which (price adjusted) was by 6.7 per cent more than in the respective period of 2007.

In I quarter 2008 against I quarter 2007, seasonally and working days adjusted, GDP increased by 6.2 per cent, while against the previous quarter – decreased by 0.2 per cent (see Figure 2).
